Board Members

Brian Best
Brian Best is a leader on Ambassador Enterprises' Non Profit Portfolio team, focusing on discovering and advancing investment opportunities, connecting leaders and partners, and optimizing the Non Profit Portfolio’s investments. Brian has twenty-one years of pastoral ministry experience with the greater portion of those years invested at Lakewood Park Baptist Church in Auburn, IN. He has a Bachelors degree in Bible from Baptist Bible College (now Clarks Summit University) and a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership from Huntington University. Additionally, Brian is credentialed in Coaching and Advanced Professional Leadership from the Townsend Institute.Brian, Tami, and four daughters reside in Garrett and are actively engaged with GKB Schools.

Kyle Branscum
Kyle Branscum is a 2004 graduate of Garrett High School. He has been a Real Estate Broker at Wible Realty in Auburn since 2012. He and his wife Lauren have daughters, Sarah and Margot. Kyle is a member of the Jam Center Board of Directors and the Dekalb County Property Tax Board of Appeals. He holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University- Purdue University Fort Wayne in secondary education, and enjoys running and golfing in his spare time.

Mark Claxton
Mark D. "Clack" Claxton, a GHS Class of 1988 graduate, has enjoyed educating at Garrett High School since 2012. He has been teaching English and Social Studies since 1993. He currently teaches American Studies, Biblical Literature and Composition, Government, and U.S. History. He also serves as Senior Class Sponsor and GHS Varsity Football Academic Coach. He is a graduate of Indiana University in Fort Wayne and has also taken extensive graduate course work in various disciplines. Mark and his wife Jenifer, a 1989 GHS graduate, currently reside in Garrett.

Daniel Durrwachter
Daniel Durrwachter is the Superintendent of Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District. He has previous experience as a teacher, principal, CFO, and assistant superintendent. He has a Bachelor degree in Bible and Science Education from Baptist Bible College. He has a Masters degree in Education and Educational Supervision from Ball State University. Dan, his wife Sarah, and their five children reside in Garrett and attend GKB schools.

Pam Good, Treasurer
Pam Good is a retiree from Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District. She has volunteered with the Auburn Fire Department Auxiliary, the DeKalb County Fair Association, RSVP, and is active in area theaters. She is married to Mike Good and resides in Auburn. Pam previously served on the board for St. Martin's Healthcare Clinic. She is honored to serve on the board for the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Education Foundation and support this organization with opportunities for the students and educators in the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District!

Phil Haynes, President
Phil Haynes is an alum of Garret High School, Purdue University and IPFW. He is a full time crop farmer and part time computer programmer. He currently lives in rural Garrett with his wife Laura and their two children who attend GKB. He enjoys supporting his kids through their school and sports activities. Phil is a lifelong member of his church where he volunteers regularly.

Luke Ice
Luke Ice is a 1996 graduate of Garrett High School. He is an accomplished engineer and entrepreneur with a diverse background spanning aerospace and biomedical industries. He holds an MBA and currently works in the aerospace industry, applying innovative solutions to complex technical challenges in the propulsion field. Formerly in the biomedical field, Luke brings a broad perspective to his work. He also serves as a dedicated school board member, committed to improving education in his community. Married with four children, Luke balances his professional pursuits with a strong focus on family and public service.

Holly Joseph
Holly Joseph is a licensed school counselor and has worked in the Garrett-Keyser-Butler Community School District for 18 years. University of Saint Francis and Ball State
University were her degree schools and she is a born and raised Railroader. She is active in her church, Garrett and the DeKalb county community and enjoys spending time with her family at home and on the family farm.

Todd Kidder
Todd Kidder is currently Executive VP of Insurance Trustees Inc. in Garrett, IN. He graduated from Fairfield High School and Taylor University. Todd also serves on the boards of Alliance Industries and Serving Hands Ministries. He and his wife Kathi have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.

Kara Molargik
Kara Molargik is an 8th grade Math teacher at Garrett Middle School. She graduated from Ball State University in 2004 with a double major in Education and Athletic Training. In addition to teaching, Kara serves as an Administrative Assistant at the County Line Church of God Garrett Campus. She can also be found helping lead her daughters’ Girl Scout troop and coaching their softball teams. Kara lives in Garrett with her husband, Aaron, and her two daughters, Drew and Kinly. She is excited about the opportunity to help enrich the educational experience of students here at GKB

Abby Thomas
Abby Thomas is a student at Garrett High School in the class of 2026. She currently serves on a variety of extracurricular activities such as Student Council, Bring Change 2 Mind, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Academic Teams. Abby plays clarinet and tenor saxophone for the Garrett Bands marching band, jazz band, pep band, and concert bands programs and she currently serves as the Drum Major for the Railroader Regiment. Abby resides in Garrett with her family. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Garrett community through the Foundation.

Tonya Weaver, Secretary
Tonya Weaver has the privilege of serving as an assistant professor at Trine University. She earned degrees from both Butler University and Indiana University and has held various administrative roles in the district, including serving as the elementary Principal, Director of Administration and Innovation, and Superintendent. Tonya also serves on several other boards in the community. She and her husband Doug have two daughters.

Dr. Dan Weimer, Vice-President
Dan Weimer, a GHS Class of '88 grad. He has been a veterinarian in Garrett since 1999. He is very active in both the Garrett Community and the GKB Schools Corp., having strong ties with each, both past and present. He and his wife Barbara reside in Garrett, and have 2
young adults attending GHS. Dan believes this foundation can and will be of great benefit to both GKB and the Garrett Community.

Camdyn Woods
Camdyn Woods is a part of Garrett High School's Class of 2025. He is a member of the Football, Baseball, Spelling, and English teams. He is also a member of the Garrett National Honors Society and Sources of Strength. He is the son of Holly Woods-Wengerd and Christopher Wengerd and resides in Auburn. He is currently captain of Garrett's varsity football team and is a 2023 english state champion.
