J.E. Ober Elementary New Additions:

 

Welcome Halie Snyder as a new 3rd Grade Teacher at J.E. Ober Elementary. She graduated from Garrett High School and then attended and graduated from Trine University. She loves to travel to new places (the warmer the better), go on bike rides, watch all types of movies, and spend quality time with her family and friends. 

 

Welcome Andrew Morr as a new J.E. Ober 3rd Grade Teacher. He graduated from PFW in 2019 with academic honors. He studied Elementary Education with a concentration in Language Arts. In his free time he competes in Powerlifting and Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments. He also writes fiction and poetry for publication. 

 

Welcome Kelsey Martin as a new J.E. Ober 1st Grade Teacher. She went to Leo Jr/Sr High School, then graduated from PFW with her degree in Elementary Education. In her spare time she loves spending time with her family and friends, playing volleyball, and playing board/trivia games. 

Welcome Kiley Toney as a Media Instructional Assistant in J.E. Ober. She graduated from Grace College, where she met her husband Nick. She has two children, her daughter Emerlynn and her son Jarick. She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, photography, and working on small projects around the house. 

Welcome Christa Sullinger as a Special Education Instructional Assistant in J.E. Ober. She graduated from Garrett High School in 1996. She joined the active duty Air Force in 1997 and retired in 2017. She has traveled all of the world and lived in England and Japan. She is married to her best friend, Josh, and they have two young boys; Aiden, 8 and Anderson, 5 years old. In her spare time she loves to create unique vinyl projects. Her hobbies include reading, crafting, traveling to new placed, and being a baseball mom. 

Welcome Jen Arnzen as a K-2 Instructional Assistant (Reading Intervention) in J.E. Ober. She is from Portsmouth, OH. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also played four years of college basketball at Shawnee State University. 

 

Garrett Middle School New Additions:

 

Welcome Abby Hess as a 6th Grade Reading/Humanities Teacher at GMS. She lives in Wolcottville on Witmer Lake with her husband and five cats. She went to undergraduate school at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI and graduate school at IPFW. In her spare time she loves to read, especially out on her deck and enjoying the sun, and work out. She also loves to travel, especially by cruise ship. She comes from a family of educators and is excited to keep the family tradition alive. 

 

Welcome Clayton Evans as the new GMS Science Teacher. He attended and graduated from Huntington University. His hobbies include: camping, fishing, and going to baseball games.  

Welcome Tasha Getts as 7th Grade Special Education in GMS and a Bus Driver. She returns to GKB Schools after a year apart. She has four grown children with her husband, Larry. She has four grandsons, two of them starting Kindergarten next school year. She is thrilled to help some high need areas in special education and transportation this year. She is excited to learn and grow as she joins the middle school team. 

 

Garrett High School New Additions:

 

Welcome Melissa Burgess as the new GHS Media Specialist and English Teacher. She was born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN and graduated from North Side High School in 1991. She graduated from Kentucky Christian College with an education degree. She returned to Fort Wayne and coached volleyball at North Side for 15 years and taught English. During that time she also received her Master's in Secondary Education from IPFW. She also plays bass and sings in the Hubie Ashcraft Band. 

Welcome Megan Hanes as the new GHS Special Education Teacher. She is from Auburn, IN and graduated from DeKalb High School. She attended and graduated from IPFW. She has a two year old son named Langston and most of her spare time involves doing family things with him and his dad, such as: camping, swimming, going to the zoo, and playing in the park. 

 

Welcome Gentry Trimble as the English Teacher at GHS. He has received a degree in English Literature and Secondary Education from IPFW. He reads and writes in his spare time and is currently working on a novel with one of his professors. He has worked with students at a movie theater and at the Bowen Center and realized that he loves working and developing minds and felt called to teach. 

Welcome Josh Hettinger as the Band Director at GHS. He grew up in Harlan, IN and went to Woodlan Jr/Sr High School. He moved onto IPFW to pursue a degree in Psychology, but decided to follow his passion in teaching and playing music. He graduated IPFW in 2019 with degrees in Music Education and Music Performance. He enjoys playing his instrument, roasting and making coffee, traveling and exploring with his wife, and kayaking. 

Welcome Alexandria Gottfried as an Instructional Aid for GHS. She graduated from Zionsville High School in 2007 before attending Ball State University. She moved to Garrett in 2010 when she married her husband. She has three children: Taylor who is 9, Olivia who is 7, and Jett who is almost three. She also has two dogs, Earl and Hank. In her spare time she likes to go swimming with her family, spend time outside, and going to see movies. 
 
Welcome Olivia Ice as a Special Education Instructional Aid Assistant for GHS. She grew up in Auburn and went to DeKalb High School. After graduating, she received her cosmetology license and has been doing hair for 14+ years. She has been married to her husband, Luke, for 13 years and they have four children. In her spare time she likes spending time with her kids, husband, family, and friends. She loves staying active, working-out, shopping, watching sports, and watching her son play baseball and football. 

GKB New Additions:

 

Welcome Breanna Kahkola as an Administrative Specialist in the Superintendent's Office. She graduated from Garrett High School in 2013. She then attended IPFW and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in December 2017. She is an animal lover and has two pets of her own. A cat named Aero and a yellow lab named Marley. She loves to be with her pets, watch movies, travel, bake, and read. 

Welcome Jennifer Harris as Custodial. She was homeschooled. She then attended and graduated from Penn Foster High Class of 2007. She enjoys fishing, going to the movies, and playing with her animals. 

Welcome Dan Brown as Custodial. He attended and graduated from Garrett High School. He enjoys going to car shows, watching movies, working on a Hi 67 Belvedere II, and going to book sales with his wife.
