Building Trades Program Rewarded
The Building Trades Program was rewarded a State Earn and Learn (SEAL) Certification on Friday. This certification was rewarded by the state agency. Only two have been rewarded in the state of Indiana. The reward helps signify that the Building Trades Program is a model work-based program. Congrats to Chad Sutton and the students!

CyberPatriot Places Pair in State Competition
CyberPatriot Places Pair in State Competition
The teams from Garrett High School excelled in the CyberPatriot XI State Round held January 11-13, demonstrating teamwork, critical thinking skills, and technical knowledge key to a successful career in cybersecurity. The top group from GHS tallied 164 points to place third in Indiana while the second team was seventh with 65 points. Harrison High School (West Lafayette) and South Newton (Kentland) took home the top two spots in the State’s Gold Division with 176 and 168.6 points respectively.

Career Development Program
Garrett-Keyser-Butler is creating a Career Development Program that will connect business to education and prepare students for real world opportunities. This will allow students to have access to multiple career pathways in the world of manufacturing and construction after graduation ultimately leading to economic independence. This program will have hands-on classes available to students starting in 5th grade and will continue throughout their time here at GKB.

Garrett High School CyberPatriot Team Wins Silver Division Indiana 2nd Place Award
Two groups from Garrett High School recently concluded an exceptional round of competition in the 10th season of CyberPatriot – the Air Force Association’s National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. One group competing in the Silver Division placed second in the State of Indiana and also advanced to the Regional Round held this past weekend. Another in the Gold Division was seventh in Indiana.

Junior Achievement Serving Garrett and East/Central DeKalb Puts Entrepreneurs in the Classroom During National Entrepreneurship Month
Junior Achievement (JA) of Northern Indiana announced that local entrepreneurs inspired high school students in 156 classrooms last week as part of the 100+ Entrepreneurs Initiative. The initiative, designed to coincide with National Entrepreneurship Month, will put entrepreneurs into high school classrooms across America this month to share what inspired them to start their own business and to open students’ eyes to the opportunities provided by entrepreneurship. JA serving Garrett and East/Central DeKalb County worked with local entrepreneurs to impact students at Garrett High School and DeKalb High School.
